8 Good Things That Happened Last Year That Made Our Hearts Glad! #Throwback2021

When our present becomes just a memory, we hardly get to know it, right? It feels like just yesterday when we were sailing our ships through the turbulent waters of 2021. As soon as the year started we were engulfed by the massive 2nd wave that left us all devastated. Paddling through loss and stress, we still had some good moments in between. Moments that were like choco chips in the oatmeal cookie that was 2021. And today, we’re gonna look back at all those moments that made us smile then and still make us smile now. 

1. When The Times Were Tough, But So Were We

2021 was a challenging year for all of humanity, but it was also a year OF humanity. When most of Delhi’s cafes, restaurants and home chefs joined hands to distribute free & nutritious food to the COVID-19 patients and everyone in need, or when there were several organisations like Khalsa aid offering support, oxygen cylinders and also beds to those who needed, humanity as a whole smiled. 

2. When We All Got Vaccinated 

This was also the year India started its biggest vaccination drive in the war against the pandemic. As of now, 97% of Delhi's adult population or 14.4 million people have received at least 1 dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and of these, over 9.7 million have received both doses. The Delhi government started a tenacious vaccine campaign and also offered free doses to all adults.

3. When Dilliwalas Danced To ‘Pawwri Hori Hai,’ & ‘Baspan Ka Pyaar’

Amidst all the madness & stress, one thing that kept us sane & united was social media. From all of us getting amused by the trending reels & songs on viral videos like ‘Pawri Hori Hai,’ or ‘Baspan Ka Pyaar,’ to us standing together to help out each other by spreading COVID-19 resource info, social media really connected us and gave strength to a lot of people.

4. When On Neeraj Chopra’s Win, Sitaram Announced Free Chole Bhature For All Delhi Ke Neerajs

Neeraj Chopra became quite the star when he bagged India’s 1st ever gold in athletics and as the entire nation celebrated, so did Delhi’s beloved Sitaram Diwan Chand. That too, by giving out a plate of free chole bhature to everyone named Neeraj! 

5. When Delhi’s Sidecar Was Voted Amongst The Top 50 Best Bars

One of Delhi’s awesome bars in GK II made every Delhi wala happy when it was voted as one of the world’s top 50 bars in the world. Sidecar has also been voted 16th on Asia's Top 50 Bars list and we’re literally beaming with joy! Calls for a drink at Sidecar, doesn’t it?

6. When Gautam Gambhir Started A Re 1 Meal Centre, Jan Rasoi In Laxmi Nagar

Gautam Gambhir inaugurated his 4th Jan Rasoi in Shakarpur after the success of the previous ones in Gandhi Nagar, Ashok Nagar and Vinod Nagar which serve more than 3,000 people every day. The Jan Rasoi offers a whole & nutritious meal for just Re 1 for anyone who needs it, thereby being a blessing for the deprived section. 

7. When The F.R.I.E.N.D.S Reunited

This year also had the moment we all had been waiting for ages. Ever since we had binge-watched F.R.I.E.N.D.S in high school, we had been waiting for the day these 6 got together again, and we got it. The reunion tore us up & gave us a lot of smiles, and obviously, we binge-watched it on the very day!

8. When The Entire Nation United In Laughing At ‘Jal Lijiye Memes’

Memes come and memes go, but hardly any of them make a sensation like the ‘Jal Lijiye’ memes did. The internet literally went crazy making hilarious memes, and the marketing teams of even the biggest brands joined in all the fun! Ah, what a throwback all these still make us chuckle!

If a sucky year like 2021 can have such moments with silver lining that helped us make it through, so can anything! We’ve survived guys, and we’ve come out stronger.
