13 Moments We Absolutely Loved On The Much-Awaited FRIENDS Reunion

The cast of FRIENDS got together in a room once again after 17 years, and it was a pretty big deal for all of us. We had been waiting for this moment for ages, and it finally came! It was like a much-needed comfort hug in the toughest of times, and FRIENDS, once again proved that, after all, they’ll be here for us. FRIENDS is a HUGE phenomenon all over the world, and we just wanted to share some of our fave moments from an epic gettogether. If you haven’t seen it already, beware, for there are spoilers up ahead!

1. When The FRIENDS Entered Their Beloved Set One By One

The reunion started with the last scene of the show, and we knew then that we needed a tissue box to get through this, so did Jennifer (Rachel) as soon as she saw the set where they had made a gazillion memories. As the actors entered the set one by one, we realised what a profound moment it really was, not just for us but for the cast too! After all, what a huge part of life it was for them, imagine the nostalgia they would’ve been hit with! Matt Le Blanc said he got chills, and damn, so did we!

2. When They Played The Trivia Once Again

One of the favourite episodes of Courtney Cox was “The One With The Embryos” where the girls lost their apartment to the boys. Much to our delight, they got quizzing again, with David donning the game master robe once again with the same seriousness. This quiz was with a twist though, for it was filled with cameos, revisiting, and nostalgia. Joey found out his identical hand twin, and they met Richard (Tom Selleck) again. Unfortunately, no one still had the answer to what Chandler Bing’s job was. Do you?

3. When We Learnt About Ross’ Real Feelings About Marcel

Answering a question from the fans in the audience, David Schwimmer let slip the truth about his feelings for Marcel the monkey, despite him being an animal lover. We got to see a hint of Ross again when he complained about them having to reshoot because “the monkey did not get the scene right” or his displeasure when the monkey held him with grubby hands. Never mind, though, for the “in the jungle, the mighty jungle” scene was one of our absolute favourites!

4. When Phoebe Got Attacked By A Bug

Perhaps, one of the best things about the reunion was that we could see in some scenes and tiny cracks, that our actors are truly like the characters they played, still. When a bug attacked Lisa Kudrow, her reaction took us straight back to Phoebe! It was a hilarious moment indeed. When Matthew Perry retorted “at least we dealt with it well”, we knew the hilarious and sarcastic Chandler was right there! It only added confirmation to the creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane’s appreciation of how well the characters were cast. We are truly thankful, y’all!

5. When They Read Some Of Their Fave Scenes

The reunion brought back memories of some of the greatest episodes, as the cast read some of the most iconic scenes. We got Phoebe’s “My Eyes, My Eyes, MY EYES!” from one of the most loved episodes “The One Where Everyone Finds Out”, and Ross’s shrill scream. They also read the awesome jellyfish scene from “The One With The Jellyfish”, and Ross and Rachel’s emotional and steamy scene from “The One Where Ross Finds Out.” Now we gotta binge-watch it all once again!

6. When We Found Out The Story Behind “The One Where No One Is Ready”

The FRIENDS reunion was also like watching the bloopers, sitting with the cast themselves (a dream, truly). A surprising part was when we saw the story behind one of the most iconic episodes, “The One Where No One’s Ready”. Matt Le Blanc faced a shoulder injury while filming the scene where Joey & Chandler fight for the chair, and how that injury was incorporated in future episodes. Poor Joey! The story also gifted us with their ritual before every episode- the FRIENDS huddle.

7. When Phoebe Sang Smelly Cat Again, With Lady Gaga

We got a chance to listen to Lisa Kudrow singing the legendary song- Smelly Cat, once more (full out bawling, at this point). She was joined by Lady Gaga, and they sang together. It was a full-blown performance with BG singers, which reminded us all of the time Phoebe’s Smelly Cat was recorded and turned into a music video from “The One Where Eddie Movies In.” Lisa Kudrow, just like Phoebe, voiced the thoughts of all of us when she said “I still think it was better with just me.”

8. When We Found Out David Beckham & Kit Harrington Are Like The Gellers

We saw how FRIENDS has lifted up not just us common folks, but also some of the greatest stars. BTS, Malala, Mindy Kaling, all revealed how much they adore this show, and told us about some of their favourite FRIENDS moments. David Beckham revealed how he is similar to Monica for he is a “clean freak”, and even Kit Harrington AKA Jon Snow revealed he’s neurotic like the Geller’s and he wears too-tight pants, like Ross’s leather pants. All agreed on it being a reason to smile when they are sad. Need we say again how massive the impact of this show is?

9. When We Saw Janice, Richard & Gunther

Some of our favourite guest stars reappeared on the show, and we couldn’t BE any happier! We got to see quirky Janice again and hear her famous laughter for the umpteenth time (call us crazy, but it’s like music to our ears). We also saw Gunther again, and revisit his love for Rachel. We even got a visit from the grumpy Mr Heckles, Richard, and Mr & Mrs Geller (screaming)! We loved how they confessed they felt like the real parents of the cast. Now isn’t that sweet?

10. When Jennifer & David Were *Almost* Real Life Ross & Rachel

David Schwimmer & Jennifer Anniston spilled the beans of how they were crushing on each other for the first few seasons, and it was a WOAH moment for us. James Corden voiced our surprise pretty well. Much like Ross & Rachel, it was never the right time for Jen & David, and they were both always in other relationships and respected that. We did get the hilarious “Bullshit” comment by Matt Le Blanc though. Cute!

11. When We Got To See JB As Spudnik

The reunion brought back all the hilarious costumes adorned by the FRIENDS, into a super cool fashion show! Cara Delevigne rocked Rachel’s pink bridesmaid dress and Justin Beiber totally pulled off Ross’ ‘Spudnik’ potato outfit with a breeze! It was truly a great moment, only made greater by Matt Le Blanc wearing “all of Chandler’s clothes” again!

12. When Joey’s One True Love Was Sandwiches, After All

Although they had a pretty good reason for not wanting to do a follow-up FRIENDS movie or episode, as they will have to unravel their happy endings, we did get to know what the stars thought where their characters would be now. While the rest were married and had kids, Matt Le Blanc thought that Joey would have opened a sandwich shop at Venice Beach! How amazing!
That echoes Joey’s unconditional love for food, which is why he is our fave! That’s a perfect ending for Joey indeed.

13. And When All The Times I’ll Be There For You Played 

The theme song, “I’ll be there for you” is super close to our hearts, for our hearts did a little dance each time it played. It’s a symbol of our attachment to FRIENDS. However, the last time it played, in a slower version… OH MY GOD! It made us bittersweet all over again, for it was a reminder that the reunion- the last time FRIENDS are together on television, is soon gonna be over too! Matthew Perry echoed our thoughts when he emotionally said, “I am gonna cry now” as he appreciated the bond that had been created via this exceptional show. We can’t perhaps put it in words how special it is, but we think you all know and relate!
