A Blend Of Everything That's Tranquil And Mystique Is This Hidden Away Gufa In Rishikesh

Sometimes, we crave for a place with a drop of silence around it and if that's right up your alley, head to the Vashishta Gufa. Located 25 Kms from the Rishikesh-Badrinath Highway, it lies in the Swami Purushottamananda Ashram!  

The ethereal place has a lovely story woven around it. It's said that sage Vashishta and his wife inhabited this place after their children died and the sage meditated and attained nirvana here. 

The exterior has a dim light which later resonates to a very faint flicker as you go deeper. One has to climb 200 steps to reach the main area which is a perfect place for a deep meditation session with the priests chanting Om Namah Shivaya in the background. You can worship the Shivling inbuilt there and pay homage to it. 

Head here because a little escape from the chaos is what we all long for.
