A Haunted Bhool Bhulaiya | Adham Khan was a general in Mughal Emperor Akbar’s army. He was the younger son of Maham Anga, Akbar’s wet nurse, which made him Akbar’s foster brother. In 1561, Adham Khan murdered Akbar’s favourite general and so, to avenge his death, Akbar immediately ordered Adham Khan’s execution. The tomb was built in 1562 as a resting place for Adham and it lies to the north of the Qutub Minar.
This tomb was inspired by the Lodhi & Sayyid dynasties and has a domed octagonal chamber. Its beauty lies in the verandahs that are on each side of the tomb and have three openings. Legend has it that once a group of ‘baraatis’ got lost here and since then, it has been touted to be a ‘Bhool Bhulaiya’ (maze) by locals. This place is supposedly haunted, so if you’re a braveheart, visit this place alone or with your friends in tow.
This monument is open at all hours and lies near the Mehrauli Bus Stand, so pay a visit if you’re brave enough!
