1. Iruppu Falls

These legendary cascades have been attracting tourists and pilgrims alike for years now. Known to be the source of the Lakshman Tirth river, a tributary of the Kaveri, this fresh water source is hidden within the folds of the Brahmagiri range. The monsoons are the best time to visit here, for obvious reasons. More water + more greenery = the perfect shot!

2. Chelavara Falls

This awe-inspiring natural beauty is best admired from afar as its treacherous waters aren't the kind you should be wading into with careless abandon. But these mighty falls formed by yet another tributary of the Kaveri are still a sight to behold, despite being what Yeats might have called “a terrible beauty”!

3. Burude Falls

This five-step waterfall is best visited in the early summer which allows for a trek through a small creek, providing you with the best view possible of the gushing waterbody. However, it’s only fair to give you a heads up - it’s not advisable to swim here, rather you can indulge in other pastimes such as bird watching while on the trail!

4. Mallalli Falls

Hailed as one of Coorg's most beautiful two-tiered waterfalls, the Mallalli Falls lie at the foot of the Pushpagiri hill range. Fed by the waters of the Kumaradhara river, these seasonal falls are best visited during the monsoons to be beheld in all their glory. The trek to the viewing gallery can be tricky during the wet season due to the slippery rocks and leeches, but the view is worth every last tumble or bruise!

5. Abbey Falls

A favourite with tourists, this waterfall with its myths and exquisite scenery situated amidst sprawling coffee plantations, is the epitome of the word 'charming’. The alluring beauty of the place is enhanced manifold during the monsoons as the mild fragrance of coffee and cardamom envelopes you as you amble towards the famed hanging bridge *dreamy sighs*.
