The temple is situated on a hilltop in the majestic Western Ghats and one can enjoy a nice little walk-up during the winter months. 2. Koniamman Temple

Goddess Koniamman, who is believed to be the guardian mother of Coimbatore is worshipped here. Such is the love and high regard for the deity that most locals seek blessings at this marvellous edifice every time a new event occurs in their lives. This is one of the reasons why you would observe several weddings taking place inside the temple. Koniamman Temple also hosts the famous car festival which is not one to miss out on!

3. Avinashi Lingeswarar Temple

Lord Shiva is a prominent deity worshipped all over the region and their glory can be observed in various incarnations at multiple temples across town. The Avinashi Lingeswarar Temple is one such temple that’s not only of religious significance but has prominent historical roots as well. The temple as we see now is a result of work done by patrons during the time of The Chola Dynasty, The Pandyas, The Hoysalas and a former King of Mysore in the 18th century. Situated on the banks of the Nallar River, the temple houses several stunning architectural attractions like the 70-ft tall stone tower or “Deepasthambam” and the 100-ft tall temple tower itself, is one of the tallest in the state.

4. Naga Sai Temple 

The oldest Sai Baba temple in South India, the Naga Sai temple is another popular, although rare of its kind, temple in Coimbatore. The holy mystic, Sai Baba of Shirdi has innumerable followers and this 80-year old temple is a haven for them. The reason behind the name “Naga” refers to a fascinating event that occurred in 1943 - A Cobra appeared in front of the deity’s picture while prayer music was being played and it remained transfixed for hours! This led to widespread recognition of the temple and the deity in the city. The immaculate marble statue of Sai Baba and the Golden chariot are unmissable attractions here.

5. Dhyanalinga Temple 

A part of the renowned Isha Yoga Centre that houses the majestic “Adiyogi” Bust of Lord Shiva, the Dhyanalinga Temple is truly one-of-its-kind. Deviating from the conventional concept of Tamil Nadu temples, the structure consists of a dome encapsulating a huge Shiva linga. Although there’s a symbol of the deity within the structure, the institution doesn’t identify with the idea of worship or religious practice and solely focuses on meditation, inner peace and providing a serene environment for the troubled souls to get some peace of mind. 6. Anubhavi Subramaniar Temple

Located on the outskirts of Coimbatore, this temple is hands down one of the most well-located temples in terms of the sheer beauty and natural jubilance it offers. With dense greens flocked all around, the temple has one only one steep path leading to it and physical effort to tread but once you reach, the pleasant atmosphere and awe-inspiring views will make it worth the effort. Dedicated to Lord Subramaniya, the temple hosts loads of followers and houses a rather fascinating attraction in the natural spring that is said to be running since time immemorial. P.S. It also believed that Lord Hanuman stopped here and quenched his thirst from this very spring while carrying the Dronagiri mountain.
