This Century Old Man-Made Lake Is Considered The Most Important Freshwater Lake In Pondi
Built over a century ago, Ousteri Lake is a man-made lake and is considered one of the important wetlands of Asia by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) and is considered the most important freshwater lake in Pondicherry!
Visited occasionally by exotic species of birds like the White Ibis, Golden Oriole and many others, the rich vegetation and strict implementation of environmental laws have made it a hotspot for eco-tourism in India. A leisurely boat ride, some me-time in the library and audiovisual centre as well as a stroll in the park render a memorable experience here.
With the continuous efforts of the government to preserve this beautiful sanctuary in the most untouched way possible, we hope that it remains as charismatic as it is today - come drop by!
