1. Dolphin’s Nose

A tourist viewpoint near Coonoor, Dolphin’s Nose is more than 1,000 feet above sea level with a spectacular view overlooking the majestic Catherine Falls, Kotagiri Hills and the Mettupalayam Plains. The tip of the peak is an enormous rock formation that resembles a dolphin’s nose - hence the name. Gigantic ravines can be spotted both to the left and right of Dolphin's Nose. Located 6 miles away from Ooty, this is one of the most picturesque locations with a breathtaking view of the nearby pine forests and the Sandynallah reservoir. 3. 9th Mile

Another famous shooting location for films is 9th mile, also known as Shooting Medu. 9 miles away from Ooty, on the way to Pykara Lake, the place is tucked away in the hills and lies surrounded by beautiful pine forests and meadows all around. The mist settling into the forest and the chirping birds spotted here makes for the perfect mystical setting. You can also opt for horse riding amidst the forest and add some adventure to your excursion!

4. Doddabetta Peak

5. Kodanad Viewpoint

Approximately 18 Kms to the east of Kotagiri, on the eastern edges of the Nilgiri Hills, Kodanad offers splendid views of the majestic Moyar river and the point where the Western & Eastern Ghats meet, the Mysore Plateau, the Bhavanisagar Dam and Thengumarahada. Adventure junkies can also reach here via the trekking route!

6. Glenmorgan

A scenic countryside in Ooty sprawling with eucalyptus and tea plantations, Glenmorgan makes for the perf picnic spot. The place also has a huge lake constituting the fore bay for the Pykara Power House. This powerhouse is around 3 Kms down the hill of Singara and is considered to be the highest plant in Asia. Tourists can get a beautiful view of the Moyar Valley, Pykara Power Plant, certain parts of Mysore and Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary. Plus, there are many rest houses available at Glenmorgan and Singara for visitors so book your stay ASAP!

7. Mukurthi Peak

Amidst the hills bordering the southern plains of Kerala, Mukurthi Peak stands out at an enormous height of 2,556 metres above sea level. A beautiful place isolated from commercial activities in the lap of nature, it’s known for its exquisite sunrises and sunsets.
