1. Chadar Trek

The Chadar Trek is one of the most difficult treks in the region, but the glee you feel on completing the trek is just amazing! Organised during winters only, this trek is an icy wonderland, where you literally walk on the frozen Zanskar River hence the name *chadar*. It's a thrilling 8-9 day trek covering a lot of villages including the Chilling Village covering a distance of about 125 Kms. You might even spot a snow leopard if you’re lucky so start planning!

2. Markha Valley

One of the most popular treks in Ladakh, the Markha Valley Trek is a 75 Kms trek in the driest part of Ladakh during July to September. The trek is decently demanding as it covers 2-3 passes of Ladakh, visiting the Gompas and climbing the peak of Stok Kangri on the way. You might see some wildlife on the way too, including the Himalayan Blue Sheep, Ibex and birds like the Golden Eagle. A number of homestays and camping options are also available which is the best way to immerse yourselves in the local culture.

3. Spituk To Stok Trek

If you want a pleasurable hike, then this is the trek for you! It's a short trek as compared to others, lasting just 3 days and the highest point of the trip is Stok La Pass at 4,900 m, from where you get to witness panoramic views of the Indus Valley. It's also great for wildlife viewing and bird watching. You might just spot a Tibetan Wolf, Blue Sheep, Great Tibetan Sheep and if luck favours you then the very famous Snow Leopard. The best time to take on this trek is May - October.

4. Snow Leopard Trek

The Snow Leopard Trek is amongst the most favourite treks. It's a sight for the eyes to spot this majestic cat roaming freely in its natural habitat. The trek takes you through the Hemis National Park and its neighbouring areas where this enigmatic creature is seen. You can also explore the monasteries nearby! 5. Kang Yatse Trek

The Kang Yatse is another famous trek. If you're trekking to Markha Valley, you might as well choose this trek and do both of them together! It includes all that you do in Markha along with climbing the Kang Yatse peak at 6,400m. When you reach the summit, the view is marvellous! From here you can see the Stok Kangri, Karakoram as well as the Saser Massif. As the area is rich in wildlife you might be able to spot a few Marmots, Blue Sheep and Ibex.

6. Lamayuru to Darcha Trek

It's a long trek, and every bit challenging but is an experience you will forever remember. It covers the various rivers and villages in the region and also the not very easily accessible Phuktal Monastery. The best season to go is July-September.
