Purani Haveli is also known as Masarrat Mahal was the residence of the Nizam back in the 1800s. This magnificent structure is built by combining European and Indian architecture creating a myriad of breathtaking motifs, patterns and mosaics. Housing a museum full of the Nizam’s memorabilia the Haveli is also said to house the longest wardrobe in the world and is built over two floors with a hand-cranked wooden elevator in place comprising 240-foot long wooden chambers and around 150 walk-in closets. Once a palace of the VIIth Nizam, Mir Osman Ali Khan, who was celebrated as the richest man in the world with a palace full of riches and a grandeur, this place now stands in ruins, partly demolished without any means of entry into it, rendering it impossible to appreciate its full aesthetics.
