Get a learner's license. It is required to get a full DL anyways in some places. By the time your learner's expire, you can learn driving and apply for full license.

Actually I've done it opposite way. But,you should learn to drive first and manual transmission car is not that hard to drive. According to me it took me 1 month to know the basics and genral things.

Learn to drive first. Driving Licence is not something which you have to hold out before your car !!! And to bang someone, you can do it even after getting the DL. :-)
