Try your hands on a course first. Although internships help largely, it usually depends on the company and the kind of work they require you to do, whereas with a course you are definite to pick up something and close to what you are trying to seek as a skill.

I believe that you should go for a course first, because that will light up you knowledge about the thing you are into, and will help you to be creative in it, explore it. And then go for an internship that will help you in practical world and help you to can industrial knowledge.
