The whole selfie culture became a fad sometime around the 2010s and after the popularisation of the selfie song in 2015, the whole thing blew up and became a trend! We’re all guilty of taking hundreds of selfies at one point or another in our lives, so it’s not a far-reaching idea to assume that it has become almost a social phenomenon, over time. So when we heard about the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) planning a drive to beautify our city with selfie points in the city, we weren’t surprised. Here are all the deets!

But First, Let Me Take A Selfie | We just heard the news that NDMC is planning a facelift for all major parks, gardens and markets in the city by installing selfie points and installations with special messages. One of these installations is at Khan Market with a #New Delhi background. They’ve even refurbished the site with stonework and added planters at these sites to make these spots look more elegant.

A senior NDMC officer also stated that they were looking into creating these points with special messages as a means of reflecting the essence of each location. He also said that they planned on installing similar installations at other places such as #Care at Lodhi Gardens, #Save at Nehru Park, #Hope at CP, and more.

This initiative has been started to highlight the most happening places in the city and give us another reason to love our favourite spots in the city. What are your thoughts on this new initiative by the NDMC?
