You’ll Now Have To Remove Your Footwear During The Check-In Process At IGI Airport

This Is A Representative Image

There’s a development at the IGI airport under which the authorities will be installing new body scanners and this is how it will affect the check-in process over here.

What You Need To Know | As a part of mandatory body scan, flyers will now have to take off their shoes at the Indira Gandhi International Airport. This is being done as the body scanning machine was not delivering accurate results below the ankle. Did you know removing footwear for scanning is a practice that’s followed in many European countries and even the US? Yep, so last June, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) had asked to install body scanners at joint-venture airports such as the IGI by this April, after which other government airports will soon follow.

The current doorframe detectors won’t be done away with as they will continue to be used for differently-abled people or persons with some medical condition. It’s expected that 69 body scanners will be installed at the IGI airport. The new scanner is supposed to be much more efficient!

So, what do you think about this development?
