Delhizens, we’ve got you some really exciting news! Soon, IGI Airport will not be the only airport serving us Dilli wallahs! How? What? Why? Read ahead as we fill you in!

Delhi To Get Its Second Airport? Yayy! | From February 2019, we peeps will be able to fly out of the Hindon Air Force Station, which is located within 150 kms of IGI Airport. The civil terminal at the IAF base will be serving as our newbie airport and will be operating flights to places like Gorakhpur, Jaisalmer and more.

The first set of flights to take off from the new airport will be those under the government’s subsidised Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS). These RCS flights have fares of Rs 2,500 per hour of flying time for a certain number of seats. IGI Airport will not be able to accommodate these flights until its fourth runway is completed and Terminal 1 is expanded.

The RCS flights will ply on routes like Lucknow-Kolkata, Jaisalmer-Udaipur and more. This newbie terminal at Hindon will have a capacity of 300 passengers and facilities like a check-in concourse, an air-conditioned terminal building, food outlets and more.

Our dear IGI Airport is currently handling a LOT of air traffic and is in the process of constructing a fourth runway to handle the same. And in such a situation, the Hindon Airport is here to the rescue. Can’t wait to check out this newbie!
