DelhiYou May End Up Paying A Fine If You Litter At This Major Hub In Delhi
We often look around and find people spitting on the road, throwing wrappers out of the car windows and the list of similar instances, just goes on. But this might just change for good at this major shopping hub in the near future and this’s brilliant!
Fine For Littering In CP | The New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) is taking steps towards a cleaner Delhi by introducing a likely fine of up to Rs 50 on the spot if someone is found spitting or littering in and around CP! Yep, the plan is to deploy 100 civic wardens as cleanliness guards in the bustling shopping hub on a pilot basis. They will be stationed on a two-shift basis between 8 AM - 2 PM & 2 - 8 PM on all the 8 radial roads and the inner, as well as the outer circles.
These uniformed-wardens will have the power to issue on the spot challans for up to Rs 50. They will also be responsible for removing vehicles parked on the roadside, checking cleanliness inside public toilets, easing traffic congestion, reporting of damages to public property, removing illegal hawkers, looking for potholes on the roads and missing parking attendants. They’ll not only be on the lookout for violators but will also coordinate with various departments to fix lapses.
In March, NDMC started a mobile squad of 19 people who are responsible for overlooking the quality of municipal amenities in various sectors, such as public health, education, horticulture and other departments. Working in two different shifts, they take rounds on e-motorcycles and upload reports of shortcomings or lapses like shortage of staff at NDMC schools and more in any of the civic services on the NDMC 311 app.
