You Can Get Auto-Recharges Done For Metro Smart Cards Via Your Bank Accounts By Mid-2019
Hey metro travellers! Tell us this - do you find recharging your metro cards every so often a real pain? Yeah, we feel you! Guess what? DMRC has the perfect solution for us all. So read on as we tell you more!
Auto-Recharge Your Smart Cards | By mid-2019, DMRC is gonna introduce new smart cards that will be linked to your bank accounts. So as soon as your smart card runs low on money, it will be recharged automatically through your bank account, sparing you the pain of getting it recharged at the counter! Perfection.
These new smart cards will have the provision of auto top-up at the gates of the metro station. The smart card will be recharged automatically after the balance reaches a minimum of Rs 50 or Rs 100 - the minimum balance amount is yet to be confirmed.
Currently, 70% of metro users use these smart cards for travel, and this new initiative by the DMRC is gonna make lives super easy for them! As of now, DMRC has a tie-up with IndusInd Bank and ICICI Bank. So if you have an account at either of these two banks, you can get an auto top up for your smart card. However, currently, this facility has very less reach, as not everyone has an account at these banks.
We really hope that this awesome initiative by the DMRC becomes a reality soon - thanks a ton, Delhi Metro!
