
Yamuna's Revival May Be Sped Up With A New Special Purpose Vehicle

Hello, folks! We just heard that the river Yamuna might soon get revived and here’s what the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed the authorities to do. So, let’s dive in, shall we?
What You Need To Know | The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has asked the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to set up a special purpose vehicle for the purpose of rejuvenation of the river Yamuna. This has to be done in two weeks and the vehicle will be responsible for several functions. These include the restoration of flood plains, phytoremediation of drains at the mouth of the rivers, creating ecological services, removing encroachment and maintaining vigil & keeping track of the flow management.
Moreover, it will also be undertaking other activities such as the development of the riverfront. Government has been asked to take speedy actions against industrial waste discharge, pollutants and solid waste that’s been flooding the river.
Let’s hope that the necessary steps will be taken to revive the river Yamuna!
