With Phase 4 Well Underway, Delhi Metro To Be The 2nd Largest Network In The World!
Time to rejoice Delhiites, our very own metro is soon to become the second largest metro system in the world! There’s been work going on in Phase 4 of the metro layout and once that gets launched, gear up to say hello to the 2nd longest metro system.
Delhi Metro has issued tenders for 6 new lines under Phase 4 by the Delhi Government, and construction for these will start this August. The lines under Phase 4, in addition to the 140 kilometres added in Phase 3, are expected to free up traffic bottlenecks in congested central and southern parts of the city, and help passengers from outer Delhi.
The new Phase 4 line will provide comfort to South Delhi residents the most, as it will go through densely populated areas of Sangam Vihar, Saket, Mehrauli, Vasant Kunj and Mahipalpur of South Delhi. Praise the Lord!
Once the construction work is completed, the metro network will be extended to 434 kms across 308 stations. Now that’s just mind-bogglingly awesome!
