West Delhi Starts What's Said To Be India's 1st Drive-Through Testing Facility For COVID-19

Dr Dangs Lab in West Delhi has opened what’s touted to be the country’s first drive-through testing facility for COVID-19 wherein they’ve covered around 40 metres of the area where only one car at a time will pass by. Here’s all the information you need to know about this project that started on Monday, 6th April, 2020.

Shifting Gears | The lab takes online appointment after it checks the prescription provided by the doctor and ensures to provide minimum exposure and maximum safety by their way of testing for both the patients and the medical staff. The drive-through facility has been started in West Punjabi Bagh Central Market. There are some mandatory things they require before confirming your booking which includes government ID with your address which will be incorporated (like Adhaar Card) and the doctor’s prescription which recommends the COVID-19 test.

This testing will be done via 4-station set-up by the private lab and each one will have a dedicated officer. One test will take around 20 minutes and each day around 30 - 40 patients can be tested for this between 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM. There’s a 4-step procedure for testing wherein once the driver enters the facility they’ll see the first station where they are expected to keep the windows rolled up until asked to do otherwise. 

At the next station, the personnel wearing protective equipment will be checking the registration of the car and the make of it while verifying the personal identification. The tests will be done at the third station where the personnel will verify the documents and hold a signage of “roll down the windows” after which the swab samples will be collected and then they’re expected to roll up the windows and drive-away by the fourth station.

This initiative comes in after the apprehension of people while their COVID-19 sample is collected from home and those of the testing centres where dozens of people are coming in to get their tests done.
