Hey, Delhizens! Our dear DMRC has yet another surprise for all you guys and this time, they’re all set to make your lifestyles healthier. Wanna know what’s up their sleeves this time? Then read ahead!
What’s Going On? | In order to encourage travellers to make use of bicycles over pollution-causing vehicles for commuting from the metro station to their residence/offices, DMRC is, for the first time, planning to introduce bicycle stands at 20 metro stations, so you can conveniently park your bicycles at these stands and take the metro for wherever you’re bound. Cool!
So here’s why we really appreciate this move by DMRC - not only will it inculcate healthier habits amongst us Delhizens but also help in reducing pollution as the usage of motor vehicles will, of course, get reduced. There will be a locking mechanism at these stands for the safety of your bicycles. For the time being, these stands will be built at 20 metro stations and based on the response, they will then be constructed at other stations.
Some of the metro stations that’ll see these cycle stands are Shahdara, Rithala, Saket, Dwarka Sector 21, Sarita Vihar, Okhla Bird Sanctuary and more. These stands should be ready in another three to four months and will charge Rs 10 per hour for parking your bicycle. If you deposit Rs 50, a smart card will be issued to you which can be used at these cycle stands.
Well, once again, we applaud this move by DMRC and hope that these cycle stands come up quickly!
