DelhiWe MAY Soon Be Able To Go For Lion Safaris On The Outskirts Of The City & This Is Awesome!
Delhizens, how ‘bout we tell you that you’ll soon be able to spot lions roaming in the vicinity of Delhi? Unimaginable? It may happen soon, people! Here’s all them deets.
Hear Me Roar | In order to boost tourism in the state, the Haryana Government has initiated the process of building a lion sanctuary on the outskirts of Delhi! The Minister of Environment, Forest and Wildlife has asked officials to prepare a feasibility report for the project at the foothills of the Aravali Hills.
Since Gir is one of the most popular places for spotting lions in the country, comparative studies will be conducted at Gir and potential areas in the Aravali Hills to see whether the latter is feasible as a habitat for lions.
Currently, we have two lion sanctuaries in the country - Gir in Gujarat and Etawah in Uttar Pradesh. And now, we might have a third near saadi Dilli (fingers crossed). And once this project is green-lighted, gear up to add another spot to the list of must-visit places in Delhi!
