We May NOT Be Able To Use Our Delhi Metro Smart Cards On The Aqua Line, Guys!
This Is A Representative Image
Hola metro travellers! Aren't you excited about the Aqua Line that’s gonna be thrown open to us peeps by the end of this year? We defo are very excited, BUT there’s something we need to tell you that might not go down too well with you metro travellers. Read ahead!
What’s Happening? | Guys, the Aqua Line of the Noida Metro will, in all probability, have a separate ticketing system and security screening setup. So basically, our Delhi Metro smart cards may NOT be accepted on this upcoming line (damn)!
So for instance, if you’re travelling from Delhi to Greater Noida, you’ll have to buy separate tickets for the Blue Line and Aqua Line and you might have to go through security screening twice. Uh oh, this might prove to be a little inconvenient!
The NMRC is planning to opt for an open card system, wherein the metro smart card will also work as a cash card. It can be used at malls and for taxis and buses. And that, we feel, is pretty great! Also, people will get paper tickets instead of tokens for travel on the Aqua Line, which will have barcodes that can be scanned.
We’ve got mixed feelings about this new development - what do you guys think?
