Delhiites, we know you must be wrapped up in your cosy blankets, sipping a hot cuppa coffee and enjoying your winter mornings. And to make your chilly days a bit more interesting, we come bearing some awesome news. Keep reading!

A New Sports City In The Works | After being the perfect host to the Commonwealth Games in 2010, Indian Olympic Association seems to be gearing up to bid for the 2026 Youth Olympics, 2030 Asian Games and 2032 Olympics (woah!). And to strengthen their claim, a state-run company has proposed the construction of a new city near the upcoming Jewar International Airport that’ll be solely dedicated to all the sporting events that’ll be hosted in and around Delhi.

The blueprints of the city, that is likely to come into being in the next 12-15 years, have already been presented to the Uttar Pradesh Government. According to the proposal, the city will be big enough to accommodate about one million people. It’ll be located about 60 kms from the Freight Corridor, that’ll work as a Global Quadrilateral connecting Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata.

According to National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC), who has conceptualised this new city, they’re aiming at upscaling and integrating the existing sports infrastructures in the city. It’s said that the completion of this project may generate 2.5 lakh jobs in various sectors. Isn’t this epically cool?

The project seems to be a great initiative, so let’s keep our fingers crossed and just hope for the best, guys!
