Uh, guys, there’s some not-so-good news! An Indian Government think tank has come up with an observation and it’s scary as hell - read on for the deets.

What’s Going On? | The National Institute for Transforming India (NITI) has warned authorities that New Delhi may face a Shimla-like situation and run out of groundwater within two years, thanks to climate change and a threatening increase in population which is upping the demand for water, which will affect the more than 20 million residents of Delhi.

The think tank’s observation was based on data collected from 24 to 29 Indian states and it concluded that the county is soon to see the worst ever water shortage that’ll impact over 600 million people! Oh my freaking God!

They also said that by 2020, Bangalore and Hyderabad are also likely to run out of groundwater, which will impact over 120 million people in these two cities. Bangalore may witness a ‘Day Zero’ like Cape Town in South Africa, where the water taps would run permanently dry. Whaa?!

The report also estimated that by 2030, India’s water demands would be double the current rate and the scarcity caused due to the rising demand could lead to a 6% fall of the nation’s annual GDP, besides impacting food security.

Some of the reasons that the report highlighted behind its shocking observation are climate change, deficient rainfall and an early and extended summer. Water demand in all households have gone up thanks to the unbearable heat which is now threatening to deplete the groundwater levels.

Damn, this is really alarming!
