Travelling By The Metro? You Won't Be Allowed More Than 15 Kgs Of Luggage March Onwards

Bookmark

Listen up all you metro commuters, DMRC is setting out a very important rule for you guys - anyone carrying baggage that weighs more than 15 kgs will be sent back from the station itself due to the metro norms that had been laid down way back in the day but was never really followed!

Get A Load Of This | From March onwards, DMRC will not be allowing people carrying baggage that weighs more than 15 kgs on board and will simply be given their token and sent back. This will be done at 20 select stations including the New Delhi Railway Station as well.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) recently installed U-shaped metal barriers in front of X-ray baggage screening machines, which don't allow oversized baggage to enter the machine at 5 metro stations - Barakhamba Road, Anand Vihar, Chandni Chowk, Kashmere Gate and Shahdara and soon another 15 other stations will follow.

This is being done to ensure adherence towards the norms of the baggage size allowed as per the operations & maintenance act of DMRC. What’s decided is that commuters can’t carry baggage that is heavier than 15kgs and the dimensions fixed for the same is 60 centimetres in length, 45 centimetres in width and 25 centimetres in height.

The worst hit will be for those people travelling from the New Delhi Railway Metro Station because a lot of people not only travel with heavy baggage to the station but even to the airport as this station serves as an interchange point for the airport line as well. DAMN! Not sure how things will pan out. Let's wait and watch!
