DelhiThis New Skywalk Will Connect New Delhi Rly. Stn. To The Yellow Line & Airport Metro Within 6 Months
If you’re a regular train traveller, then you’ll be familiar with the maddening crowd that you often have to encounter at the Ajmeri Gate of New Delhi Railway Station, which witnesses an influx of more than four lakh passengers daily! This entry gate is the convergence point of Delhi Metro’s Yellow Line, the Airport Metro and the DTC bus stop, with thousands of passengers passing through on a daily basis - leading to overcrowding. But this initiative of the Railway authorities will make life a lot easier - read on!
Skywalk? What’s That About? | A skywalk connecting the New Delhi Metro Station with two metro lines (Yellow Line and Airport Metro) will soon be completion within the next six months! Currently, passengers travelling to the station via metro or bus have to walk through a lot of foot (and otherwise) traffic to reach the station building. But this newbie skywalk that’ll be equipped with escalators and stairs is gonna make travelling easier for us! Phew!
Also, in order to handle the traffic and congestion on the Ajmeri Gate side, the entry roads and circulating areas from Bhavbhuti Marg are gonna be remodelled completely! The Railways are also planning to deploy traffic marshals to regulate traffic and prevent unauthorised parking and encroachments in the area. Don’t be too surprised if you see high quality concrete roads, fountains, LED sign boards and landscaping the next time you visit the station!
This new skywalk will eliminate the need for cross movement of passengers from metro stations to the New Delhi Railway Station and vice versa. So hopefully, no more battling our way through the crazy crowd of people and honking cars!
