This Mother-Son Duo In South Delhi Make 25-40 Masks Per Day For The Poor, For Free
During these unprecedented times, there have been quite a number of changes in the lifestyle of people. One notable change can be seen as ‘wearing masks’ and they have become an absolute necessity. Despite this, even today there are numerous people who don’t have access to masks and so, this mother-son duo has taken it upon themselves to help these people out, one person at a time.
An Act Of Kindness | Cinematographer Sourav Das and his mother Laxmi have started an initiative named ‘Pick One, Stay Safe’. This 24-year-old man and his mother living in South Delhi have been making and distributing masks for free, amongst the poor. They make around 25-40 reusable cotton masks which they put in a box and place the same at 5 locations in Chittaranjan Park and have distributed over 2,000 such masks.
Laxmi makes these masks whenever she is free and the cotton cloth for the same is provided by Sourav’s uncle. The main aim of this initiative is to ensure that the poor can have access to reusable masks without spending a rupee as the COVID-19 cases continue to rise in the city. He has also designed the box in which he distributes the masks, to ensure that the whole process is contactless. This initiative is welcomed by his neighbourhood where some shops and salons have installed mask dispensers in their stores.
A small act of kindness goes a long way and this mother-son duo are proving just that!
