Last Of The Architectural Marvels By An Icon | It’s next to impossible to miss this marvellous haveli, made out of carved wood and crowned by a vibrant dome while driving on the NH-48 highway. This is Meerut Dwaar, a wellness and accommodation space conceptualised by late Pradeep Sachdeva and executed by his dedicated team at Pradeep Sachdeva Design Associates or PSDA. From Dilli Haat to Garden Of Five Senses, these landmarks have been designed by him.

This dazzling property has 45 super airy guest rooms - none of which are alike but boast the same design language. Vintage lights and wooden roofs give the space warmth and also provides fantastic views of the countryside. A bunch of covered rooftops form a wellness centre, while a little temple concealed to one side gives an area for prayer. Brick masonry is one of the signature components used in most PSDA ventures and it’s no different here. Mr Sachdeva decided to use only Lakhori bricks for this project and brickwork patterns were carefully drawn out, mock-ups tried before the final texture was arrived at. The striking brickwork adds a historical reference to the construction as do the gardens, planned by scenic architect Vidya Tongbram who drew inspiration from the Mughal Charbagh style.

The four gateways or dwaars at Dwaar were hand-painted by local artisans and the main entrance of the haveli is modelled after a haveli in Muzaffarnagar. The second grand entrance is loaded with complex brickwork and the third gate takes you straight to the scenic gardens. The dedication to highlighting the heritage of Uttar Pradesh is quite evidently visible in the decor of this massive Namaste Dwaar.
