These 19 Areas In Delhi Shall Be Made Pedestrian-Friendly With Street Furniture & Footpaths
Walking on the roads in Delhi is a tricky undertaking, all thanks to the increasing number of cars and the lack of adequate footpaths. But you know what? There’s a ‘Walkability Plan’ that the government has come up with which has given us pedestrians a ray of hope. Read on as we tell you all about it!
What’s Going On? | As per this ‘Walkability Plan’, 19 important locations in the city are gonna be remodelled and made more accessible for pedestrians. So we’ll basically have pedestrian crossings, street furniture, trees to offer shade, proper footpaths and more!
These 19 areas that’ll soon see a facelift are ITO, North and South Campus, Uttam Nagar crossing, the three ISBTs, INA, Hauz Khas, IIT, Nehru Place, Bhikaji Cama Place, Karol Bagh, Saket - Malviya Nagar stretch, Lajpat Nagar, Dwarka Sector 21, Old Delhi and New Delhi Railway Stations.
Also, some areas will be declared pedestrian-only, like the Chandni Chowk redevelopment plan, wherein no vehicles will be allowed in the area. That’s pretty cool, don’t you think? We’ll be able to finally roam about freely without having to worry about dodging incoming vehicles.
Thanks a ton, Delhi Government!
