There's No Such Thing As Too Much Cheese @ Senorita’s
Samachar Market in Mayur Vihar Phase 1 is becoming a hub for cafes offering yum delights at pocket friendly rates. A recent addition to it is the all-vegetarian cafe Senorita’s at the backside of the market. Having heard many good things about the place, we decided to try it.
The place is super small with nothing but a few tables to stand and eat. Dreading the summer heat, we ordered a home delivery. The supposed time was said to be 45 minutes but it reached us in about an hour and a half and the presentation disappointed a little. Read on our experiences with the grub!
Cheesy Baked Fries
This is their most popular dish; it's actually fries baked and loaded with tons of cheese, jalapeno sauce, mustard and finely chopped veggies. A pretty heavy dish, garnished with a spicy tomato sauce which adds a zing to the uber cheesiness - we loved it! It's priced at 100 bucks.
Bechamel Sauce Pasta
The thick white sauce pasta with veggies like baby corn, olives, chopped carrots and beans was full of cheese. The oregano and chilli flakes made it fairly full of spice and flavour. An average dish with nothing too special about, this was priced at 110 rupees.
Cottage Cheese Steak Sandwich
Hands down, the best item so far; Neatly chopped paneer cubes tossed in barbecue sauce and along with bell peppers inside the grilled sandwich was a delight. It was served with a Jalapeno sauce which had oregano and chilli flakes in them. A dish we would blindly recommend. It was for 80 bucks.
Cafe Aloo Tikki Burger
This had a thick potato patty inside a wheat bun loaded with jalapeno sauce and mayonnaise plus slices of tomato, onion and a lettuce leaf. It did not please us at all - the flavours were just too mixed up and it was served with the same jalapeno sauce. Also, we did not get the fries or salt crispies generally served along with it! It costed us 60 rupees.
Baked Nachos Mexicana
This dish is pretty much in the same format as above with the cheese and sauces. By just looking at it, one cannot differ between the baked fries and the nachos. Also, due to the late delivery, the nachos were no longer crisp but soggy and ruined the dish. This dish is priced at 120 rupees.
Senorita’s is a good option for an evening snack when in the mood for ordering a dish or two as the use of the same sauces in almost every other dish makes the flavours very repetitive. They rely on the general love for cheese the masses hold but push it a bit too far. Along the seating space around the cafe, the presentation of the food and its packaging also hold some scope for improvement.
