Are you also one of those people who look forward to a public or religious holiday to just enjoy a laid back day of doing absolutely nothing but sipping your glass of wine or rejoicing with your pint of beer? Well, we know the struggle of stocking up your bar with all that liquor just before the dry days begin but hey, we have some news for y’all so read on!
No More Excessive Dry Days | Did y’all also dance with joy on hearing the news of dry days being slashed to only 3 days a year? Well, here are some more inputs on the same that’ll make you way happier. According to an official order that was issued, the Delhi government has deducted the number of dry days from 21 last year to just 3 now. All the licensed liquor shops and opium vends will now remain closed on Republic Day i.e. 26 January, Independence Day i.e. 15 August and Gandhi Jayanti i.e. 2 October as per the order issued by the excise department of the Delhi government. The order also stated that the restriction on the liquor sale on dry days will not apply to the service of alcohol to residents in case of hotels possessing an L-15 license.
Until last year, the birth anniversaries of great leaders and religious holidays were observed as dry days but now, as per the order of the excise department, apart from the 3 public holidays mentioned above, no other day will be observed as a dry day unless explicitly declared by the government.
Also, the licensees won’t be entitled to compensation if any changes are made with regard to the number of dry days being observed.
A little relieved, aren't y’all?
