The Largest Food Security Scheme Has Been Approved & Here's What You Need To Know!

The world’s largest food scheme aims to benefit about 80 crore people across India who have been forced to stay at home to curb the spread of the novel COVID-19, and we’re happy to tell you guys that it just got approved. Here are more deets on that!

For The Betterment Of The People | Under this scheme, each person will get 7 kg ration per month for the coming 3 months. It’ll include wheat at Rs 2 per kg instead of Rs 27 per kg and rice at Rs 3 kg instead of Rs 37 per kg. Apart from this, the government has also assured the public that there will be sufficient availability of food products and essential goods during the 21 day lockdown period. 

Also, to improve the capital adequacy ratio of the regional rural banks, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the recapitalisation with Rs 1,340 crores. 670 crores will be given by the centre, and the rest will be collected from different banks from the central government. The construction workers of the government, whose work has got disrupted owing to the novel COVID-19, they will be given a full salary as well.
