The First Look Of The RRTS Superfast Train Between Delhi & Meerut Has Been Unveiled & We Love It!

Rapid Rail For A Rapid Development | India’s fastest rail which promises Delhi to Meerut in 55 minutes has finally been unveiled. There are standard as well as premium classes in each of the trains out of which one coach is reserved for women. The National Capital Regional Transport Corporation or NCRTC stated that some swanky features in the coaches would include cushioned seats, overhead luggage racks, CCTV cameras, heating ventilation & air conditioning (HVAC) system, sockets at every seat to charge electrical devices and more standing space. 

This Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) train will be the first in India to have a premium or business coach on a regional corridor and it’ll run on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor covering a distance of 82 km in just 55 minutes. A business section is also being built separately which will have a separate automatic fare collection, entry and exit system. These trains will have an aerodynamic profile with a long nose and plug-in-doors to reduce air drag at higher speeds, unlike the Delhi metro trains. While the trains are automated, train operators will be present inside at all times to oversee operations.

These trains are being manufactured in India under ‘Make In India’ guidelines and are likely to start a full speed trial from December 2022. They will also provide a green corridor for emergency services and the patient can reach the hospital in an hour for about Rs 100. A ‘One Card One Nation’ system is to be introduced for the ticketing system. The corridor will have 25 stations and is expected to be ready by 2025.
