The Delhi Zoo Will Remain Shut Till The End Of March Due To The Ongoing Health Crisis
Last week, the Delhi Government had announced that all educational institutions, spas, gyms, cinema halls, parks like Waste To Wonder, Nandan Van and more will remain shut till the 31st of March due to COVID-19, and we just heard that the National Zoological Park will remain closed as well! Here’s more on this.
Avoid Heading Out | Delhi Zoo AKA National Zoological Park will be temporarily closed to prevent the transmission of the novel Coronavirus. The zoological parks in Maharashtra, Bihar, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Rajasthan and Uttrakhand will remain shut till the 31st of March as well. The official notice is yet to be out, but this step has been taken to protect the public from the ongoing pandemic by the Central Zoo Authority (CZA) and the approval was given by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF).
Last week, CZA had advised a thermal screening for each visitor at the entry and exit gates of the zoo along with proper protocols for sanitation, but since these parks see a high footfall, it’s better to close it down to help curb the spread of the disease. According to the authorities, during the weekends, there’s an estimated footfall of 20,000 people but in the past weeks it has been ranging between 2,000 to 5,000.
