With the rising number of cases in the city, procurement of plasma for Plasma Therapy has become a tedious task. To make it easier for patients, the Delhi Government has decided to set up a Plasma Bank and here’s what it is all about.
Need Of The Hour | The authorities will set up a Plasma Bank in the city within a day or two. This bank will probably be the first of its kind in India. The fundamental idea behind this is to help people looking for willing plasma donors who have recovered from COVID-19. The aim is to extract blood from recovered patients and store the plasma so it can be given to someone who’s suffering from the disease.
This bank is being started to help out people, as many have had to struggle to find donors for the same. Though this therapy is still in the trial stage, doctors have so far realised that it works better on patients with moderate symptoms than on those in critical conditions. A donor can be any recovered COVID-19 patient with no comorbidities between the age of 18-60 years. However, they must have recovered three weeks before the procedure and should have tested negative for the disease at least twice!
Spread the word and let people know about this important development.
