2. Hansraj Dramatics Society

The Dramatics Society of Hansraj was once the playground of the superstar Shahrukh Khan! They receive about 400 applications every year. Considering the huge number of applications, the hopefuls have to clear a three-day long audition process. The society believes in not reducing the zeal of the actors with many productions, but with a few only. ‘Holi’ is one of their popular productions.

3. Ankur, Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College

With their breakthrough performances, Ankur the Street Play Society of SGTB Khalsa College performs well-researched plays. They aim at spreading societal messages across to the audience with exhilarating performances. The number of hours of practice is just another figure for these actors. Their annual production ‘Gulzar Gali’ has been appreciated by many dignitaries and has been accredited with many awards. They have also showcased their talent in JNU on National Street Theatre Day. 4. Dramatics Society, Lady Shri Ram College for Women

Girls of this society are always ready to give their best. Lillette Dubey, Sandhya Mridul and Sakshi Tanwar, now acclaimed actors in their own right were then a part of this society. The critical thinking of these fearless girls along with their x-factor has always been able to take our breath away! Always wanting to give a social message, one of their productions ‘Sun! Tu Rehene De’, which dealt with the issue of normalization of patriarchy in the Indian Society was highly appreciated.

5. Lakshya, Kamala Nehru College

With just a handful of members, Lakshya is a close-knit society. All the members of the society believe that drama is a revolutionary art form. The sole motive of Lakshya is to bring about a change in the society through drama. Every member of this society is par excellence! The brave girls of the society put together ‘Justice Abhi, Far Hai’, which received critical acclaim for the strong message it held.

6. Ibtida, Hindu College

With the achievements of Ibtida, Hindu College is becoming synonymous with its nukkad natak society. Founded by none other than Imtiaz Ali in his days back in DU, it has been a breeding ground for many aspiring actors today. Their annual theatre fest ‘Medina’ is seriously awesome and makes Ibtida shine out. Their production ‘Hawa Nayi, Rukh Wahi’ has one been one of their best productions till date.

7. The Players, Kirori Mal College

The launch pad for quite a few talented members of Bollywood like the legendary Amitabh Bachchan and Sushant Singh Rajput, The Players have always played the game well. Well known for their script selection, they are also one of the most dedicated societies beginning their practice from summer vacations onwards!
