This Is A Representative Image

As little kiddos, we often loved cycling around, but the thought of using it as a daily commute option on the motorised-vehicle congested roads of Delhi is enough to scare the fudge outta us. However, this awesome move by the government may just be a big game-changer!

First Cycle Track To Come Up In Delhi | The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and the Public Works Department (PWD) has given a nod to build what’s said to be Delhi's first elevated bicycle track. The proposal of this 6-km track has finally been submitted!

The track will begin from Satpula Drain Bridge near Press Enclave Road going till Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (JLN) at the Barapullah elevated road. Running along the course of Satpula Drain, this track will also find connections to metro stations in its route. The 20-ft wide path will pass through localities like Panchsheel Enclave, Lajpat Nagar, Sheikh Sarai, Siri Fort, Andrews Ganj and Defence Colony - cool!

The track connecting South and Central Delhi will be covered to protect the cyclist against harsh weather conditions and motorised vehicles won’t be allowed to ply on this route! Plus, there will be cycle kiosks at a distance of every 800 meters where cyclists can rent bicycles.

The move to build a dedicated cycle track will surely encourage a healthier lifestyle, much like other cities of Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Copenhagen to name a few!
