The 16th CE Sher Shah Gate Is All Set To Be Restored Soon, 9 Years After Being Damaged!
Back in August, a substantial portion of Sher Shah Gate located on the Mathura Road, opposite the Purana Qila, collapsed due to heavy rainfall. It’s been nine years since the incident, and now the restoration work, which began way back, is now all set to be completed this year.
Restoring To The Former Glory | Sher Shah Gate is a 16th-century monument built by Sher Shah Suri that granted Southern entrance to the city of Shergarh during the Sur Dynasty. Did you know this city was built when Sher Shah defeated the Mughal Emperor, Humayun? Yep, and it was damaged due to heavy rainfall in 2012. This restoration was supposed to be completed way back in 2015-16 but it has been taking quite a long time. However, there is just 4-5 months worth of work left and this should be complete this year.
A temporary brick wall had previously been raised to support this structure. Did you know this restoration has taken longer than the time taken to restore Humayun Tomb? Yep, the work on the latter had been done in 6 years.
So, what do you think about this development?
