It was very recently announced by the Government that starting from the 1st of May that is Saturday, everyone above the age of 18 will be eligible to take the vaccine. And they have released a set of new rules to be followed to make this a seamless process, here’s all you need to know!

Vaccines For All! | All adults will now be able to take these shots and the state government will be able to buy these from the manufacturers in the liberalised and accelerated Phase 3. From pricing to the procurement of vaccines will be much smoother in the next phase. Plus, states can get additional vaccine doses directly from vaccine manufacturers.

So, from what we heard, vaccine manufacturers will supply 50% of their monthly Central Drugs Laboratory (CDL) released doses to the central government and will be free to sell the rest of it to the state governments or in the open markets. Free vaccinations will continue for those currently eligible such as the frontline workers, healthcare workers and those above 45 years of age. Vaccine manufacturers will declare the price of the vaccination in advance and based on this, the state governments and private hospitals will be able to buy from them. Moreover, the central government will allocate vaccines from its share to states or union territories on the basis of the number of infections and vaccine wastage will affect this quota. And those who’re eligible for the second dose currently will be made a priority.

This set of new rules comes in after India has been seen a record number of new infections day after day. So, make sure to take your vaccines on time and till then stay home, stay safe.
