DelhiSouth & East Delhi To Be Less Than 15 Mins. Away Thanks To The Pink Line’s New Stretch!
Hey there, Delhizens! We understand the pain of staying in South Delhi and having friends or relatives put up in Noida or East Delhi. Oh, the never ending travel! Half our Sundays are just spent in the metro or in a traffic jam on the road. Urgh! But guess what, there’s something that DMRC has in store for you, after which, travelling between South and East Delhi or Noida will not be such a pain anymore! Check it out.
What’s Going On? | From November onwards, South Delhi will be less than 15 minutes (not kidding) away from East Delhi, you guys! And the distance between Noida and South Delhi is also gonna get significantly reduced. How did this happen? Well, the DMRC just cast another one of its awesome spells to shrink the distance between these places and we can’t thank them enough!
Once the Lajpat Nagar to Mayur Vihar section of the Pink Line is up and running, places in South Delhi like South Ex, Sarojini Nagar and more will get direct connectivity with East Delhi. So yep, the Pink Line is our patronus, saving us from the dementors of endless travel that really sucks the life out of us!
Mayur Vihar Phase I is all set to become a major interchange station, which’ll connect the Pink Line to the Blue Line (Noida City Centre/Vaishali-Dwarka). This means that this station is gonna make travelling SO much easier between South Delhi and places like Laxmi Nagar, Preet Vihar and Anand Vihar. Here’s how - commuters can now change trains at Mayur Vihar Phase I, instead of going all the way to Rajiv Chowk or Mandi House, which are the current major interchange stations on this route.
The Mayur Vihar Phase I Metro Station currently has a footfall of 30,000 people, which is set to increase once this station becomes an interchange point. And you know what’s unique about this metro station? The distance between this station and the next, that is, Hazrat Nizamuddin, is the longest in the Delhi Metro network! Woah!
Travelling to Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station and Sarai Kale Khan Inter-State Bus Terminal is also gonna get super easy, now that both of these places will have metro connectivity!
The Lajpat Nagar - Mayur Vihar stretch consists of five metro stations - Vinoba Puri, Ashram, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Mayur Vihar I and Mayur Vihar Pocket I. The last two are elevated stations, while the others are underground.
Well, that’s a lot of good news for a day, don’t you think?! We hope November comes soon and we’re able to reap all the benefits of this newbie section of the Pink Line. Kudos, Delhi Metro!
