Travelling souls, great news awaits you with this one. So we just got wind that taking a trip to Dehradun will become easier in the near future as the Centre has approved an elevated expressway between Delhi and Dehradun which will cut short the time by a massive amount!

The Hills Are Closer | There will soon be a 12-km long elevated corridor to protect the wildlife in the country, which is supposed to be a first in the country. The approved project of the national highway will shrink the distance between Delhi and Dehradun from 250 km to 180 km - woah. This means that you can reach the capital of Uttarakhand in just 2.5 hours as opposed to the current 5-6 hours. The existing route passes through Meerut, Muzaffarnagar and Roorkee, however, the new one will touch Baghpat and Saharanpur.

The project will be executed in 3 phases, in which the 1st phase will be 31.2 km long connecting Akshardham to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway. The 2nd phase, which happens to be the biggest of them all, will connect Eastern Peripheral Expressway and Saharanpur and will be 118 km long. The last phase of 20.7 km will connect Ganeshpur to Dehradun.

Did you know the expressway will feature 10 elevated roads and amenities will be available at a stretch of every 25-30 kms to enhance the travel experience? Yep, if everything goes smoothly this highway may open in 2 years!

Can’t wait to zoom through this new project. Hills, here we come!
