No matter where you turn to look in the city, you will surely find heaps of plastic which is one of the major sources of pollution and increasing trash in the city. In order to keep a check on the usage of plastics, some markets and malls are doing their bit and becoming environmentally conscious.

Plastic No More | Select CITYWALK will soon go on to become the first mall in the city that’ll be plastic-free which basically means that none of the shop owners will use plastic bags to pack things to be given to the customer. From what we heard, approx. 170 showrooms and 30 eateries here have agreed to do away with using at least 100 kilos of plastic in a day - nice.

Plus, the SDMC said that 23 shops & eateries in Hauz Khas’ SDA market will also become plastic-free. And the three vegetable & fruit markets in West Zone which includes D-Block Hari Nagar, under Janak Setu flyover at Nangal Raya, and one near Veer Savarkar Park at Punjabi Bagh have also decided to stop using plastic. Did you know they would generally use approx. 11,000 plastic bags in a day?

These moves will prevent the use of about 100 kgs of plastic daily. Moreover, one vegetable & fruit market in Tagore Garden has also been declared plastic-free. What do you think about this move?
