It’s that time of the year again when dengue has hit the city and everyone is going around sporting mosquito repellent patches. But still, there’s too many evil mosquitoes out there waiting to suck on our blood! And thus, SDMC has come together with Northern Railways and have launched the ‘mosquito terminator train’ at the New Delhi Railway Station!
The train will spray insecticide or bactericide on water bodies along the tracks across the city and is expected to cover a distance of 70 kms a day! This is an annual exercise carried out to curb mosquito breeding in localities near railway tracks which are inaccessible by road.
A truck mounted power sprayer is being provided by the municipal corporation for sanitizing water bodies within 50-60 metres of the tracks. This train contains huge amounts of water and larvicide acid which will kill the mosquitoes in the water!
We applaud this move and hope it helps!
