1. Udaipur, Rajasthan

Stalwart, beautiful palaces showcasing the enduring opulence of a bygone era; vibrant, colourful local markets and lots and lots of artificial lakes! From the famed Jag Mandir to Lake Pichola, to the 17th-century palace of Jag Mandir to Monsoon Bagh (which consists of innumerable fountains and lush greenery) and who can forget the Lake Palace - lofty and pristine white, nestled in the deep waters of Lake Pichola. We’re already starry-eyed at the thought of beautiful Udaipur!

2. Gulmarg, Jammu & Kashmir

When we speak of Kashmir, its beautiful, precious city of Gulmarg immediately springs to mind! Much-loved for skiing at the legendary Colonial-era Ski Club of India, snowboarding and backpacking in its perpetual snow-capped peaks, Gulmarg is just oodles of fun wrapped together. You could book an amazingly luxurious houseboat, with beautiful shutter windows opening up to one of the most scenic views in India and simply float away in your very own palace of heaven here!

3. Havelock Island, Andaman & Nicobar Islands

Touted as one of ‘20 Most Beautiful Islands in the World’, Havelock Island is simple, untouched, breathtaking beauty! Miles and miles of pristine white sand, turquoise-green waters lapping away at your ankles and the sun just burning away all your stress. Known as the backpacker’s paradise, you could simply laze away your day at the beach or indulge in scuba diving, snorkelling, water skiing, water scooter-ing and parasailing - there’s just so much to see and do!
Quick Tip | If you want to opt for scuba diving here, just head straight to Barefoot SCUBA, who’ve made it their mission in life to simply throw open the sport of scuba diving all over India and incidentally are some of the coolest people you’ll ever meet! Also, Havelock Island can only be reached through the airport of Port Blair - it’s best to take a connecting plane to the port cities of either Chennai or Kolkata, and then travel on to Havelock by ferry via Port Blair.
4. Khajjiar, Himachal Pradesh

Since it’s right there, let’s just say it straight out - meet Khajjiar, Mini Switzerland of India! A pretty little hill-station sitting in the Chambal district of Himachal Pradesh, it’s got a small, stream-fed lake - Khajjiar Lake - sitting right in the middle of the town, not unlike Lake Geneva BTW. Adding to its natural beauty, Khajjiar is simply surrounded by densely-wooded meadows and forests, just waiting for you to meander in, wine glasses and picnic baskets in hand!
Quick Tip | While here, you must go see the Kalatop Wildlife Sanctuary and try and catch a
glimpse of Mount Kailash during your treks!
5. Darjeeling, West Bengal

Sitting at the foothill of Mount Kanchenjunga, one of the highest peaks in the world, Darjeeling’s most known for its picturesque, winding ‘Toy Train’! Dotted with Buddhist temples, cable-car rides and home to the scenic Tiger Hill - there’s a little something for everyone in Darjeeling. Very popular for backpacking and trekking, you must check out the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park and the serene Peace Pagoda - this place is truly mesmerizing!

6. Coorg, Karnataka

River rafting, wildlife safaris, golf-courses, monasteries, temples - this little clutch of a hill-station in Kerala holds all this and more! We absolutely fell in love with the rugged beauty of Mallalli Falls - the rush of water falling over 200 feet straight down; river rafting at the raging Barapole river, elephant sighting at the Dubare Reserve Forest and Elephant Camp and since Coorg’s home to many superior coffee plantations - plantation visits!

7. Alleppey, Kerala

Gliding along the placid waters of the beautifully intricate inland waterways of Kerala is a must-try-before-you-die! Simply book a houseboat with raw, rustic interiors, grab a bottle of wine, pick up your camera and begin your sojourn through ‘God’s Own Country’. Azure skylines and beautiful sunsets galore, while you’re sitting pretty in the cute houseboats, your helpful boat-driver will fish prawns and trout fresh in front of you, and then cook them for a scrumptious meal!
