Revel in The Lush Greenery of The City at the Pretty Garden Near The VC’s Office in North Campus
“Come forth into the light of things, let nature be your teacher” - William Wordsworth. The Romantics knew it the best. Nature is something we ought to cherish and its beauty is to be embraced. They spent a lot of time trying to preach to the world to look towards nature in order to gain knowledge, patience, virtue and be glorified through nature. And what better way to applaud nature than to spend time in a beautiful garden in the middle of the day, taking shade from the heat of the sun, while others go on about their lives?
We recently visited the much favoured garden right beside the Vice Chancellor’s office in North Campus and although the garden is well-known amongst the students, it hasn’t gained much recognition among the general hoi polloi, and even many DU-ites fail to notice it. Well today, we are going to introduce you to this picturesque garden, hoping that it will have the same profoundly majestic effect on you that it had on us.
How to Get There

In order to reach the place, you must go up to the University Enclave (that’s where all the protests happen, FYI), which is right next to the Faculty of Law and Ramjas College. Opposite the University Enclave you will notice a security desk and a path leading from it. That is the path you shall embark upon. Pursue that path, keep walking, notice the Department of Environmental Studies in your way (landmark alert), take a left turn and after a few steps, you will notice the VC’s humongous office, and right opposite to it, is the garden you have been seeking. Just as soon as you notice it, we are sure you will realise this is no ordinary garden, this is a garden that has beauty written all over it!
What’s in Store For You

As you walk through the garden, there are a certain things that are hardly going to escape your attention. The first of these is the statue of Buddha, located right smack in the middle of the garden, standing in all its glory and from it leads four different paths in the garden. Each block is full of greenery, different kinds of trees and if you visit it at the right season, there’s going to be myriads of pulchritudinous flowers for you to admire and become a Keats yourself.
The trees provide a cool, calm shade and you can notice different animals going about their lives, doing their work and if you are fortunate enough, a dog might just seek you out and decide to spend some time with you. In the middle of afternoon, the place provides what Delhi falls short on a lot - silence.
Delhi’s Green Cover

Delhi boasts of numerous parks and gardens that have become popular amongst the masses, but not all of them are easily noticed, and this is one such park. With its location in North Campus, away from the noise of the campus and its workings, the park provides you with a refuge and time away from the society. We don’t intend on presenting a utopian or an idyllic picture, but the garden is emblematic of all the silence, the calm and the introspection you need for yourself.
So the next time you are in the North Campus, instead of visiting the much-too-popular places, why not give this garden a try? It will surely give your mind the much awaited, and needed, peace, with Buddha to encourage you. And if you look just outside the park, the national flag hoisted above the VC’s office building, is bound to give you patriotic emotions. Lastly, the place is a haven for all the photography lovers and we think they, too, will agree with us, what better thing to photograph than nature?
