There’s nothing scarier in the city than crossing busy roads, with cars whizzing past us at crazy speeds! And the PWD understands our plight and has hence come up with a new initiative for us pedestrians. Read on and find out more.

What’s Happening? | The government’s Public Works Department has approved construction of seven new foot overbridges in different parts of the city and this comes as a huge relief! The foot overbridges are gonna pop up at places like RTR Marg, Nelson Mandela Marg, ISBT in Sarai Kale Khan, inner Ring Road, MG Road, Tamil Sangam Marg, Harswaroop Colony and Maya Puri. The department’s survey revealed that at RTR Marg, about 1,894 pedestrians cross the road during the day, and there are about 84,407 vehicles passing through in a 12 hour period. Woah!

The area around RTR Road is mostly residential and the dwellers face a lot of problems crossing these roads, which are packed with cars almost throughout the day. There are about 495 people who cross the ISBT Sarai Kale Khan road per hour in peak time, and there is no pedestrian facility to help people cross the roads safely. In such a scenario, these foot overbridges will come in handy.

We applaud this move!
