Pouring Oriental Delights Onto Bowls, 7 Things That Caught Our Foodie Fancy @ The Kylin Experience
Mushrooming out in a little corner of plush N Block Market in GK I, Kylin Experience hid behind an unpretentious board proclaiming the legend and beckoned us inside. A short flight of stairs led us into a recently-opened, beautifully-appointed room with comfy couches that made you sink back and admire the golden-glow-infused space lit by hanging lanterns and discreet lighting. Warm, soft music floated out and the space immediately felt homey and cosy.
Propped up as a casual-cum-fine-dining place especially geared towards tempting the always-hungry and perpetually diet-conscious millennials, Kylin Experience offers you organically grown farm-fresh vegetables and fruit, chicken bred on free-range farms and raised cage-free and antibiotic-free eggs. In short, a nicely wrapped organic package served fresh with a flourish!

Intrigued, we turned our attention to their menu, which, to every millennial's delight, featured lots of quinoa and meal bowls entitled 'Geisha Bowl', 'Tuk Tuk Bowl', 'Sentosa Bowl' and the like, each named to represent the type of Asian cuisine it hailed from.
Thoroughly impressed, we tied hungry bibs around our necks (figuratively of course) and whipped out our forks, ready to begin!
Without further ado, let's dive into our glorious Asian meal then, shall we?!
1. Passion Fruit & Kaffir Lime Margarita (Virgin)

If you're a passionate passion fruit lover (like us), then this drink is perfect to whet that always-ready appetite of yours! Nicely doused with soda, the passion fruit puree was deliciously refreshing and came with a light layer of froth on top - with a lonely lil. kaffir lime leaf floating on top! We relished the tangy hints in this one, and you will too.
2. Farmer's Market Quinoa Salad

Our bowl-ful of healthy salad came with mounds of quinoa and assorted crunchy green veggies; also spotted was lots and lots of juicy corn, pomegranate pearls and oodles of a soupy dressing which made the entire concoction an explosion of juicy, fresh veggie goodness! The quinoa nicely added substance to the salad, while the overall taste held not-too-overpowering hints of ginger. Nicely done Kylin!
3. Japanese Chicken Pot Stickers

Now pot stickers are akin to your usual dimsums, with one major point of difference - they come seared on the bellies (on one side) and then simmered for added flavour. Kylin's version was prepared immaculately, all the flavours nicely balanced, and came covered with their patent soya sesame sauce. We thoroughly enjoyed popping these one after the other in our hungry mouths!
4. Tuna Tartare Sushi

Turning towards our first love, sushi, we pulled ourselves away from the delicious pot stickers and ordered some yummy Tuna Tartare Sushi. Now this variant was basically tuna wrapped in tuna, bound with lots of sticky rice. Dipping it whole into a saucer full of soya sauce, we devoured these whole and declared ourselves satisfied.
5. Rice Paper Roll With Assorted Vegetables

A literally paper-thin crystal clear skin enveloped a plethora of veggies stuffed within with this one! And by that we mean veggies of every kind - you had sliced carrots, spring onions, cucumber, whole bunches of spinach and what not. We dipped that into a cutie-pie lil. bowl of sweet chili sauce and had ourselves a winner!
6. Geisha Bowl

Ah now we come to Kylin Experience's piece de resistance - the Geisha Bowl! Kylin was cute enough to come up with a bevvy of food bowl meals and christened them with names like 'Gangnam Style Bowl'! We picked the Geisha Bowl, which came piled with panko-crusted fried pork cutlets nicely laid out on a bed of delicious Udon noodles. The cutlets came gloriously fried and the noodles were satisfying to the core, making our bellies sigh with satisfaction.
7. Ice Cream Spring Rolls

Never one to shy away from innovation, the next dish to appear before us was a curious mix of fried, crunchy spring rolls that had been married to a mush of vanilla and mango ice cream! Being the brave souls we are, we chanced a bite and were happily surprised. The ice cream went nicely with the slightly sweet fried spring roll layer and made a nice sweet end to our foodie jaunt.
Overall, we totally loved the concept, presentation and above all, the freshness of the meal deftly whipped up by the cheerful peeps over at Kylin Experience and would recommend the place if you want a nice, quiet place to chill with your buds over exemplary food and bubbling conversations!
