Parineeti Chopra, Dance Offs & a Shopper’s Haven | The H&M Store Launch at DLF Mall of India

The Swedish giant H&M opened its 4,000th store (woah) at our very own, new-but-extremely-popular-kid-on-the-block, DLF Mall of India with lots of glam and and so we headed right on over! 
The growth of H&M could be a wondrous case study in expansion - while the first store was established in Sweden in 1947, by 2013 the brand was opening its 3,000th store in 2013 in China. In the next three years, a thousand more H&M stores were opened all over the world (including India) ultimately bringing us to the 4000th store launch at the DLF Mall of India! 

The Expansive Store

The DLF Mall of India is the perfect place to launch H&M India’s flagship store, for it is known to be one of the most ambitious projects this country has ever seen. The store in itself is spread over four expansive floors and features collections that are not found in other H&Ms across India - there is a huge H&M lingerie section, an H&M sports range, H&M Mama for expecting mothers as well as H&M+ for plus sizes. It is only fair that a store like this deserves a huge store opening like the one it had! 

The Anticipated Excitement

H&M promised to award gift vouchers of Rs. 4,000 each to the first ten people at the store launch, which resulted in people arriving a day before at the venue, camping out the night outside the unopened store! As the morning rolled in, more and more people started filling in to witness the store which would be launched by Parineeti Chopra. 
To kick off the celebrations, the host invited people to come and take part in an impromptu dance competition, whose winners would be able to dance for (and perhaps with) Parineeti Chopra. Young boys and girls volunteered to shake a leg and soon the corridors were filled with hoots and screams for the dancing participants.

Welcoming the Diva Herself

Finally, four contenders from the lot were selected and Parineeti Chopra arrived amidst great cheer and applause, looking cute and quirky in an H&M pink tank top, denim shorts and a full length, floral shrug. She waved and hello-ed towards the crowds, going inside the H&M store and emerging back with shopping bags in her hands. “I’ve always liked H&M’s exciting and affordable fashion - there is plenty of inspiration in store to create your personal style”, she said. 
The four contenders of the dance competition were then asked to dance in front of Parineeti Chopra so that she could pick a winner - the participants expended all their energy into impressing her, and Parineeti even danced along with a few of them, giving everyone a hug. Finally, the store was launched and the people who had been waiting in queues for hours were given access first. 

Highlights of the Store

H&M was sprawling and glittering with new apparel, shoes and accessories just waiting to be fussed over and bought! We too got a sneak peek inside and are glad to say that we couldn’t take our eyes off the vast collection! 
Their Spring / Summer collection was flirty and fun - floral prints, tassels, crop tops and boho jumpsuits were definitely the highlights. Monochrome tops and skirts are also in this season, and H&M’s leather bags and accessories, which manage to reinvent its quirkiness every single time we visit, were as stylish as ever.
