Oh Hi Yo Proved To Be OH-SO-GOOD: 7 Delish Dishes We Sampled @ This Cutesy Place
A cosy café nestled in the greenest area of Delhi with huge canopies of centuries-old trees gives the place a feel of being away from the concrete jungle. It’s built on the concept of alfresco dining where one can sit outside and smoke sheesha on lazy evenings or enjoy the winter sun. The décor is beautifully done – framed photos a la Big Chill, brick wallpaper and pretty white tables trying to create a chilled out ambience. Whatever it is that you crave the most, you will definitely find here – their menu comprises more than 300 dishes, covering almost all the major cuisines of the world!

The best thing we liked about being in the café was that one could have a proper conversation without being disturbed by ‘in your face’ loud music. You can go there with your buddies and grab a bite of thin crust pizza, take your girl for a budget gourmet meal or even a scrumptious dinner with your parents or family friends. Here’s 7 great dishes from their vast selection that we tried and loved!
1. Chicken Satay

Now satay - good satay that is - is a difficult dish to prepare – it almost always hardens while being cooked. But Oh Hi Yo has completely changed the game when it comes to luscious chicken satay! Nowhere have we tried such a melt-in-your-mouth satay with the perfect peanut sauce - defo sample this one here folks!
2. Chilli Chicken Dimsum

As our meal progressed, our expectations also rose accordingly. But fortunately, all the dishes did wonders for our palate! The dimsums were heaven sent - perfectly minced meat with chilli chicken flavour packed in a not-too-thick steamed outer layer. They really hit the spot and rate high on our cravings list. A must repeat for the next visit!
3. Chicken Cigar Rolls

High on presentation, we’d call this dish pretty much average. The outer fried layer was not as crunchy as expected, and it also didn’t go too well with the sweet chili sauce in the shot glass. So all in all, we wouldn’t say the Chicken Cigar Rolls were the best dish that Oh Hi Yo had to offer.
4. Classic Chicken Steak

This was different from the steaks you’ll see on menus of different restaurants - the outer chicken layer was hammered and hollowed out and stuffed with minced chicken which was marinated in herbs and sauces for the perfect flavour. It came with pepper sauce and a small side of veggies and mashed potatoes. The veggies were a bit too raw for our liking but the other superb dishes more than made up for this!
5. Grilled Fish In Lemon Butter Sauce

This was a star dish on their menu, again a difficult dish to master which sometimes even five star kitchens can’t get quite right. It consisted of lightly buttered fillets of fish with a touch of lemon served with Cajun spice grilled veggies and mashed potatoes. It was of superior quality - melt in the mouth and feathery light on the tummy. It had a wonderful after taste and the beetroot dressing on the side had us licking the plate with our fingers - literally!
6. Rose Phirni

Now this one came in its own ornately decorated bowl and looked absolutely scrumptious! However, upon dipping our spoons in, we found that it was a little too jelly-like for our liking but was beautifully decorated with dried rose petals and topped with pistachio and almonds. Maybe better service next time, Oh Hi Yo?
7. Baklava And Vanilla Ice Cream

It was a good end to a wonderful meal. The presentation of this one was amazing - it seemed as if the ice cream was melting right onto the sweet Arabic filo pastry. The charcoal slab looked divine as the base and the nuts (almonds and pistachios) were sprinkled like starry dust on the dessert!
Drinks and desserts can be improved upon, but you must definitely go for the appetizers and mains. The presentation of the dishes whets the appetite and the food tastes as spectacular as it looks. The USP of this restaurant is that the presentation of the food does not take away from the focus on taste, flavours, ingredients and the quality of the meat served.
The restaurant is not one of those clones that pop up every week in a locality near you. It’s different - the dishes here are made with love and the aromas and flavours will make your taste buds very happy. The food is infused with aromatic herbs and masalas, and yet does not give you that heavy, over-full feeling. Definitely worth coming back to!
